AVANTASIA adalah group band symphonic metal / power metal dari Jerman yang didirikan pada tahun 1999, proyek yang dibuat oleh Tobias Sammet, vokalis dari grup power metal, Edguy. Judul proyek ini adalah portmanteau dari kata "avalon" dan "fantasia" ( "fantasi") yang menggambarkan "sebuah dunia luar imajinasi manusia" (kutipan dari booklet). Proyek ini terdiri dari sebuah single berjudul "self-titled", dua full-length album dengan subjudul "The Metal Opera", dua EP disebut "Lost in Space", dan album kedua "The Scarecrow". Dua album baru, "The Wicked Symphony" dan "Angel Babel" yang dijadwalkan akan dirilis pada 3 April 2010.
